Professional Bio
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over a decade of experience providing trauma-informed, bilingual psychotherapy to older adolescents, and adults. I hold a Master of Science in Social Work with a specialization in Mental Health and Disabilities from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Our Lady of the Lake University.

I am licensed to practice in New Jersey, New York and Texas, and bring extensive experience working in private practice, hospital settings, and children’s advocacy centers. My clinical background includes supporting individuals and families impacted by sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, community violence, developmental trauma, and complex trauma.

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic practice is deeply rooted in neuroscience and is informed by the principles of Interpersonal Neurobiology and Mindsight. This foundation allows me to thoughtfully integrate an understanding of how trauma impacts the brain, body, and relationships into my work with clients.

I am a certified therapist in both Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Additionally, I have completed advanced training in Internal Family Systems (IFS)-Informed Therapy and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT). I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly participate in continuing education to ensure that my therapeutic work remains aligned with current, evidence-based best practices.

Currently, I provide therapy through Open Roads Therapy LLC, where I offer comprehensive assessments, collaborative treatment planning, and individualized care tailored to each client’s needs. I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and culturally responsive space where clients feel supported in their healing and personal growth.

Testimonials

Amy Callaway, Outreach and Disaster Coordinator
"I had the privilege of working with Norma at The Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center. She is kind, compassionate, hard working, detail oriented, knowledgeable, and an advocate for her clients. She is wonderful at meeting her clients where they are at, connecting them with resources, and advocating for their best interest. She is also culturally competent and respectful of both her clients and their protective family member. She is just fantastic, and I have nothing but great things to say about her. It was a privilege to work with her.

Gillian Rothchild, Reference Libririan
"I am a student in a library science program, and a former president of my school's American Library Association student chapter. Norma was recommended to me by a professor as someone who would be able to speak to my student group about crisis management in public libraries. Her presentation was informative, empathetic, and concise, and she took her time to answer each question, ensuring that all participants were getting the information they were looking for. I have personally successfully implemented Norma's suggestions within my own workplace. I would strongly recommend Norma to anyone in search of a speaker for a mental health presentation.

Teresa Stroud, Superintendent
